Change can be scary, especially as an owner. Will the change bring the company more success? Will the employees
accept it? Will it be cost-effective? These were some of the questions we asked ourselves in early 2002, when we
were deciding what would be involved in taking Mojave Copy & Printing to the next level.
We had already been successful in bringing full digital color copying and digital Black and white copying into our shop
along with the successful mergers of two local printing companies. This challenge was a little different as we wanted to
involve our key employees in the decision making process.
Before we purchased the RIPit System we took our pressmen, Stuart and Steve, and our graphic designer, Chris, to look
at different Computer to Plate systems at other printers in the Southern California area. After much discussion we
decided we would go with RIPit. We knew other printers who were very happy with their Rip-It systems and the price was
very competitive.
All of our employees rose to the challenge and took to the Rip-It like ducks to water! Chris loves it for a variety of reasons,
namely the trapping and the improved quality of his artwork. Stuart and Steve love it because multi-color documents dial
in so precisely that their set-up time has been cut down by almost 70%.
Why do I love the RIPit CtP System? A year ago we installed our new RIPit CtP and it immediately made a huge
difference at Mojave Copy & Printing. Our quality instantly improved, our turnaround time improved dramatically with the
elimination of service bureaus, and our plate costs decreased. What a powerful combination to help lead us to the next
level in the digital technology revolution!
