If you are a printer with small format presses, the question today is not whether to have a Computer to Plate System; it is which one. We have always been impressed that RIPit was originally a software company. For us this means that RIPit's emphasis is on making the system operator-friendly; continually enhancing the program's functionality; and building in features of real use to us -- like previewing the RIPped file on the monitor, trapping on-the-fly, output device profiles and the ability to customize RIPit to our production environment. Training on using our RIPit system has gone smoothly for years. In our shop we require that the production manager be able to operate all equipment; he had no problem retrieving files and outputting plates after simple training by the prepress specialist. The ease of training has been especially important for us, as we have had significant turnover in the prepress specialist position for the last three years. Though ours has been extreme, I know that in many shops, prepress is the most volatile position. The fact that the RIPit system can be taught easily is an essential advantage. We also purchase our supplies through RIPit to take advantage of their software upgrade and maintenance program. Supplies are competitively priced and with a minimum annual purchase, we receive software upgrades and maintenance support for free. We like the fact that RIPit can be a full-service vendor for our imagesetter. Contact Nancy DeDieMar at 909-981-5718 or visit her web site at www.printingresources.com |
