These charts provide the key productivity figures for various SpeedSetter models, as a function of the resolution selected for
the jobs being produced. The values provided are for the imagesetting engine. The performance of the RIP is variable, and some overhead time must be added to the page imaging times, at least for the first page to be output within a group of pages and/or separations. Some RIP designs add very little overhead, particularly if the RIP is designed for parallel processing and can simultaneous output while it is ripping the following page(s). |

| * Maximum throughput rate. Assumes a continuous steam of rasterized data for six-up A4 page jobs is available from the RIP(s); interjob times included; film loading and cassette changing times not included. |

| When comparing these speeds with those from other manufacturers, consider carefully all factors that impact the true total productivity of an imagesetting system. Raw imaging speed data for some manufacturer's imagesetters (with limited choices of RIP) can mask the poor system productivity that results from serial RIPs or RIPs that choke on difficult PostScript and refuse to output anything, or even allow screen previews. Some imagesetters are incapable of stop/start performance, and force the RIP to calculate and then buffer the entire job before outputting can even begin. |
