“All-Star Printing, now in it’s 27th year, is a commercial printer that
provides offset printing, graphic design, marketing and mailing services
to the greater Sacramento (Northern California) area.
A few years back, we decided that it was time to update our Prepress
department and get a Computer to Plate System. We and started
looking at various makes, model and their workflows. After a lot of
tire kicking, we decided on a RIPit 300 CtP System because it fit our
production needs, just as well as it fit our budget. Plus, it allowed us to
upgrade the system and add optional features as we needed them
without having to having to start over.
Since then we have added RIPit’s KOOLKolor Proofing technology that
allows us to provide color accurate inkjet proofs for our customers, as
well as handy color press proofs. We also decided to get RIPit’s raster
imposition feature, StripRITE™. It helped to increased our overall
production and streamline our entire platemaking making process.
Our production staff, as well as our customers have been thrilled with
the results. Now we have control over our own production, plus our
print quality has changed the way we work. We used to run only 1 and
2-color jobs. Now we print award winning 4-color work that really gets
noticed. As a matter of fact, we recently won [8] awards from a regional
printing association, including two awards for our 4-color printing.
Some of our designer clients have commented on the improved print
quality and feel that the screens printed with the 8 mil polyester plates
actually turn out better than with conventional metal plates. Our
pressman love the In-RIP Trapping feature, since files from outside
sources are usually not trapped correctly, or they aren’t trapped at all.
We are also looking at adding RIPit’s AdvancedScan, scan to plate
feature, that eliminates the need to use our analog camera when
customers bring in hard copy. It also allows us to edit, save and place
digital files directly into our RIPit workflow and output high resolution
polyester plates.
