RIPit User: Prestige Printing

Our shop specializes in commercial offset printing and custom mailing services as well as
full graphic design and prepress services.

Like most shops, we have bought various prepress equipment including workstations,
platesetters and inkjet proofers to meet our customers needs. But, in our early workflow
we had a big problems with file consistency throughout the shop. Our proofers were tied
to our prepress workstations in our graphics department, while our platesetters were
driven by their own RIPs. This lead to all kinds of problems with files differences on the
proofs we showed our customers and the actual plates we put on our presses.

It became obvious we needed to do something. After a lot of looking, we decided on
the RIPit OpenRIP^® Symphony workflow (we also added a RIPit 400 Pro Poly Platesetter).
We chose the Symhpony RIP because it allowed us to network all of our proofers and
platesetters and literally drive them all from a single RIP workstation.

Now we can finally trust our color proofs. We get amazingly accurate colors and exactly
the same content as the plates, whether poly or metal. With the Symphony Workflow,
what you see is what you get.

The Symphony RIP also helped us to increase our prepress production by allowing us to
apply trapping and impose files right at the RIP. By imposing at the RIP we are able to
change press and bindery configurations literally on the fly, at the last minute, to meet
our changing pressroom needs. What used to take hours in pre-press, now takes minutes.

Now we can turn around jobs to satisfy our most demanding customers. And that’s what
they like the most.
