5 Ways to Save During Softball Travel Season

Having a daughter on a travel softball team is an amazing opportunity and chance for her to grow and learn through a positive sport, but it comes at a price. Here are five simple ways to save on your next trip!

1. Home Away From Home

(+)Pricing:
Booking a room at a hotel is usually around $100 per night. With Airbnb, you are usually paying anywhere from $30 a night to $150 for an entire home. Traveling with a team of girls plus their parents makes Airbnb the perfect alternative.

(+)Location:
Hotels are usually all clumped together on the same busy, tourist-packed boulevards. With Airbnb, you can find homes that are in quiet, residential areas. Areas like that are closer to the softball fields and schools the tournaments will most likely be held at.

(+) Hostess With The Mostess:
Airbnb displays reviews and star ratings so you can filter out which hosts have had visitors and those who haven't. If you decide to book with a host that has good ratings and reviews you will most likely get excellent service and they might even throw in some perks like free parking, free wifi, snacks, and more!

2. BYO Food

One of the biggest expenses when traveling is food. Buying pretzels, sunflower seeds, power bars, and drinks in bulk at your local Sam's Club or BJ's and then packing them for your trip keeps you from having to leave the softball field every break and spend extra money elsewhere.

4. Uber or Use the Metro Card

Renting a car and having to also pay to have it filled up is more costly than using a nearby metro or riding with Uber. Uber is an app where with one tap and a car comes directly to you. Your driver knows exactly where to go. The payment on an Uber app is also completely cashless. Another upside to riding with the Uber app is that you can pick and choose which driver you want based off of their rating, proximity and car size. With Uber, you also don't have to tip!

Using a metro is convenient as well. Most metros will offer a prepaid card that usually costs around $10 a day for unlimited trips. Not to mention most parking costs $10 alone!
