Terra McGowan is a talented and versatile athlete who has had a successful career as a catcher for the University of Oregon softball team. In 2022, she earned All-Pac-12 First Team and NFCA All-Pacific Region Second Team honors, and was named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team. Despite missing 22 games in the first half of the season due to injury, Terra led the team in hitting with a .375 average and was the first catcher to lead the Ducks in hitting since 2005. She had eight doubles and a .994 fielding percentage, and threw out 6 out of 18 base stealers.

In 2021, Terra was named Second Team All-Pac-12 and NFCA Second Team All-Pacific Region after finishing third on the team with a .308 batting average, five home runs, and 26 RBIs. She was second in the Pac-12 with 12 runners caught stealing and hit .389 with runners in scoring position. Terra had a pair of walk-off hits late in the season, and went on an eight-game hitting streak in which she recorded multiple hits in six of those games.

As a redshirt freshman in 2020, Terra finished fourth on the team with a .375 batting average, three home runs, and 22 RBIs. She was second among Pac-12 freshmen with her .375 batting average and fifth among conference freshmen with her 22 RBIs. Terra hit safely in 10 of the first 11 games and drove in multiple runs four times. She started all 24 games, 22 at catcher and two in right field.

Terra's success at the plate and behind it has been a key factor in the Ducks' success as a team. She has consistently demonstrated her ability to deliver clutch hits and make key defensive plays.
